Band Camp 101

Band camp starts promptly at 7 am. BE THERE AT 6:50 AM

(to put your lunch/snack away and get your instrument, to be ready by 7 am!)

  • Wear tennis shoes. No flip-flops, sandals, or open-toed shoes allowed. You will be doing lots of walking/marching and your feet must be comfortable.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather. You will be outside most of the day, regardless of the weather.
  • Bring a hat and/or sunglasses (you may also want to wear/bring sunscreen)
  • Bring your instrument
  • Bring your lunch, a drink, and a snack with your name on each item. PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR LUNCH. Thankfully, peanut butter/jelly and bread was there as a back up, as several campers forgot to pack their lunch. We don’t want hungry campers….. They need their energy………. (Gatorade and water will be provided throughout the day.)
  • Be ready to work hard and to have fun!

The Drill Instructors’ 2010 Season Goals

  • At least 3 superior ratings
  • All music memorized by end of all-day band camps (including banner & fight song)
  • Drill memorized by first home game
  • At least 2 spirit awards
  • At least one Esprit de Corps award

RHS Uniform Guidelines

  1. Ragsdale show t-shirt will be worn under uniform
    *No tank tops; show shirts help keep uniforms cleaner
  2. Plain black socks that fit over the calves will be worn with uniform
    *No print on socks, ankle or footies
  3. Shorts will be worn under uniform pants
    *Not bluejean or other bulky shorts; bike, soffee, or basketball shorts work well
  4. No color nail polish on fingers
    *Only clear nail polish is allowed
  5. No earrings, noserings, watches, bracelets or rings worn while in uniform
    *Medical Alert bracelets/necklaces are allowed but need to be taped down under uniform so they are not visible during performances
    *If ears or nose were recently pierced and jewelry cannot be removed, Band-Aids must be worn to conceal them during performances
  6. All hair must be pulled back and under hat
  7. Do not eat or drink while wearing white uniform jacket *Only water permitted
  8. UNIFORMS MUST BE WORN PROPERLY AT ALL TIMES
